I had another night of complete and total insomnia last night. Although I got a lot accomplished (I finished my second round of editing my book, I read the first four chapters of a book I’m reviewing in a book club this week, I topped off at over 500 followers on Twitter), it was exhausting. This was my 4-5th night of insomnia in less than 2 weeks. Luckily, I had an appointment with my CNS today (that would be Clinical Nursing Specialist in mental health I believe) and she’s putting me on Ambien. Guys, mental health is so important. If you’re not taking care of yours, you need to start right now. People really do care and they really do want to help. I’m blessed to have such a wonderful clinical care team taking care of me, that’s for sure. If there was ever a blunt an honest statement made here, it would be that my CNS has literally saved my life. More than once. Take care of your mental health, can’t stress it enough.
Now, as far as the book goes, who knew editing would be so hard? Like I said, I went through it a second time last night, and still found mistakes I missed the first time around. That’s so frustrating! Now I feel like I have to go through it a third time. Even though this book is going in for a professional Line Edit, they won’t be checking for spelling / grammar errors. That’s all up to me. If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you know I’ve occasionally let a couple of those slide, so they’re not my strong suit. Reading my book over and over again has my questioning the entire plot line, which at this point is a little late!
But I guess I got ahead of myself a bit. I decided to go with Bookbaby to self-publish my novel! I’m beyond excited. I’ll be able to sell from multiple platforms including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books a Million, the Apple bookstore, the Bookbaby site itself, and many more. I’ll be selling both paperbacks and ebooks. Bookbaby is going to take care of the line editing, cover design, and advertising campaign for me. Although, I will say, I plan to do my own fair share of advertising once the book comes out, I’ll be so ecstatic. The tentative title of my book is “I Wanted to Remember,” so be on the lookout for social media posts and blog updates regarding that title.
In closing, I just want to encourage everyone to check out my friend Dillon Walker’s book “Friends, Family, and Other Tragedies” on Amazon. I’m on chapter 5 right now and am hooked! I think you guys will love it.
Take care of yourselves and until next time,
